Topic 1: CSUN2008 De-briefing

Neil: Doug Geoffray of GW Micro said AT is willing to cede control for the most part. Just make it easy for them.

Neil: At the [panel] meeting, it was agreed that AT knows how to talk to various Braille devices, so they should deal braille device issues and Unicode (braille) should be sent from the EH.

Also, AT knows how to talk to TTS engines, so let them deal with that part -- send the text strings to them.

Neil: EH want to use more more than plain text. Need to do pauses, rate changes, etc.

Janina: Do we need more control? What? Audio? Do we require SSML support? Do we need SMIL for sync control of audio and visual presentation?

Pete: There are some lessons that can be learned from Homepage Reader

Pete: What about interactivity such as editing?

After some discussion, Pete said that EH should get info from the DOM. However, accessibility interfaces don't have a way to tell EH what has changed in expert content. Time ran out on the call before this could be discussed further.
