Minutes Jul 27 2011
Meeting 27 July 2011
US EDT 1100-noon, Wednesdays
Conference Dial-in Number: (605) 715-4920
Access code: 512468
Attendees: Robert Schweikert (SUSE), Jeff Licquia (LF), Stew Benedict (LF), Mats Wichmann (Intel), Alan Clark (Suse)
- Putting some numbers behind the LSB 5.0 schedule.
- Preparations for LinuxCon Vancouver. Who's going; meetups?
Carry over Action items:
- Russ asks: Jeff to put up a LF blog copy of the same (LSB paper)
Jeff: Navigator isn't working as the db server is down. Can look at the interface numbers on http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/Uplift_Target
Jeff: Count for libQtGui probably isn't accurate, includes vtable entries we're not concerned with
Mats: There are also new Qt libraries we don't yet have, have we captured that somewhere?
Mats: Here's the list of LSB Qt libraries:
libQtCore.so libQtGui.so libQtNetwork.so libQtOpenGL.so libQtSql.so libQtSvg.so libQtXml.so
And the list of what's installed on an F14 system (minus "debug" libraries), not all of the "extras" are candidates, and there are even more in specialized places:
libQt3Support.so libQtCLucene.so libQtCore.so libQtDBus.so libQtDeclarative.so libQtDesignerComponents.so libQtDesigner.so libQtGui.so libQtHelp.so libQtMultimedia.so libQtNetwork.so libQtOpenGL.so libQtScript.so libQtScriptTools.so libQtSql.so libQtSvg.so libQtTest.so libQtWebKit.so libQtXmlPatterns.so libQtXml.so
Jeff: gtk3 and dbus - there are 210 headers in gtk3. I think we should treat it as a new library, rather than an uplift. Only 15-20 of the headers are larger than 10k. Perhaps we need to do a dry run first to get an idea of what the real work will be.
Robert: Sounds reasonable to me.
Jeff: Python3, a little different than the libraries. Cloning Python2 and then uplifting to 3 may work. Perhaps 1 man-month for the spec/tools,etc.
Jeff: Anything else?
Stew: Can we branch bzr? Have things that are pretty big chnages I didn't want to push into 4.1
Jeff: Yes, we'll have to figure out the branch point. Will try to get to that.
Jeff: No call next week. I'll be out.
