Olaf Schmidt to Address Accessibility at KDE's Free Software Desktop Summit (Akademy2008), August 9-15, 2008

Open Accessibility Workgroup member and KDE Accessibility expert, Olaf Schmidt will be presenting a paper entitled, Standardising Accessibility - A Game Changer for Free Software? at the KDE's Free Software Desktop Summit (Akademy2008), which is being held from 9 to 15 August 2008, at Sint-Katelijne-Waver, Belgium. The first part of Olaf's talk consists of an overview of typical accessibility barriers in software. The second part of Olaf's presentation will be a description of current accessibility standardisation activities (Open Accessibility of The Linux Foundation; W3C Accessibility; Microsoft and AIA) and their relevance to KDE.

Olaf Schmidt has been involved with KDE Accessibility since 2002. Since then, he has often represented KDE at standardisation meetings and in technical talks with other accessibility teams. He is a founding member of the Open Accessibility Workgroup at the The Linux Foundation.
