Here I will very soon publish a framework for an official timestamping service, which I regard as essential for assigning //**legally provable publication dates**//, which are also needed for free and open source software publications.

The service needs to be run by official bodies such as three major patent offices (US, EP, JP-PTO) and can make use of techniques such as the [[http://www.itconsult.co.uk/stamper.htm|PGP Digital Timestamping Service "Stamper"]]. //**Stamper**// is a free digital timestamping service which uses PGP and operates via Internet email.
